GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A North Dakota State University Extension Service official is cautioning Upper Midwest farmers who are preparing for spring planting not to forget about their stored grain from last fall's harvest.

Grain-drying expert Ken Hellevang tells Agweek that warm weather forecast for the coming weeks could exacerbate moisture and insect problems in stored grain. He says farmers should be checking their bins at least once every few weeks.

Hellevang says he's heard reports of problems with stored grain but is not aware of any widespread issues.
