The South Eastern South Dakota Conference girls’ basketball all-conference team was announced Monday.
Bon Homme senior Raquel Sutera joined Parkston’s Maria Malloy and Erika Herrold on the first-team selections. Wagner’s Devon Brecke and Jessa Doom finished off the first-team.
Second-team honors were spread around as Logan Wagner, of Parkston; Aisha Abbink, of Scotland; Kennedy Wagner, of Chamberlain; Tara Ronke, of Bon Homme; and Josie DeGroot, of Platte, were honored.
Paxton Johnson, of Gregory; Haley Brunke, of Scotland; and Jaymee Knippling, of Chamberlain, joined Wagner’s LaShawn Medicine Horn and Nicole Weber as third-team selections.
DWU baseball sweeps twin bill

TUSCON, Ariz. — The Dakota Wesleyan baseball team swept St. Ambrose University (Iowa) to open its spring break trip on Sunday.
The Tigers won 15-13 in game one and 5-4 in the nightcap. Stephen Gunnell recorded a walkoff RBI single in the second game to improve the Tigers’ record to 6-9.
Robinson named Cornbelt MVP

Hanson and Freeman each landed two players on the first-team all-Cornbelt Conference girls’ basketball team, which was announced Monday.
Hanson’s Ashley Robinson was named the conference’s most valuable player. Cassidy Graham was also on the first team. Freeman’s Carly Uecker and Paige Herrboldt were also first-team selections and Canistota’s Chloe Nielsen received a first-team honor.
On the second team were Elizabeth Schnabel, of Bridgewater-Emery; Haley Jerman, of Canistota; Kendra Cheeseman, of Hanson; Dina Soulek, of Freeman; and Kateyln Kotalik, of Menno.
Little Missouri Valley announces girls’ basketball honors

Wagner’s Devon Brecke and Jessa Doom both earned first-team all-conference honors from the Little Missouri Valley, which announced the honors Monday.
Maria Malloy, of Parkston; Kellie Winckler, of Andes Central; and Raquel Sutera, of Bon Homme, finish off the first-team selections.
The second-team selections are Lanae Vangerpen, of Avon; Tara Ronke, of Bon Homme; and Aisha Abbink, of Scotland as well as Parkston’s Erika Herrold and Logan Wagner.
Wagner’s Nicole Weber and LaShawn Medicine Horn are joined by Haley Brunke, of Scotland; Julie Mingo, of Tripp-Delmont/Armour; and Chesney Nagel, of Avon, with third-team honors.
Dakota Wesleyan softball drops two

IRVINE, Calif. — The Dakota Wesleyan softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to Concordia University Irvine on Saturday.
The Tigers fell 10-1 and 8-0 to the No. 8-ranked team in the nation. Dakota Wesleyan fell to 3-7-1 after the losses.
