Unified basketball team places third at Special Olympics tournament

The Mitchell Unified basketball team placed third in its division at the Special Olympics South Dakota basketball tournament Friday and Saturday in Yankton.

YANKTON — The Mitchell Unified basketball team placed third in its division at the Special Olympics South Dakota basketball tournament Friday and Saturday in Yankton.

Team members were Jerry Vobr, Luke Nagel, Aaron Krouse, Scott Goldammer and Ryan Collins. Unified partners were Devrin Clark, Shana Clarambeau and Jerimy Bultje. They were coached by Rod Clarambeau.

Two other teams and the cheerleading squad from Mitchell Area Special Olympics also placed in their divisions.

The Mitchell Gold team placed fourth in its division. Team members were Matt Baysinger, Thy Chum, Mike Determan, Thomas Filler, Brett Pederson, Matthew Putnam and Danny Schneider. Coaches were Nathan Putnam and Erik Kurth.

The Mitchell Black team placed fifth in its division. Team members were Ian Ames, Tom Archambeau, Kyle Clarambeau, MaryAnn Lefferts, April Lemke, Tony Lucas, Carissa Vobr and Tiffany Vobr. Randy Kurth and Marie North coached the team.

Members of the MItchell cheerleading squad, which placed fifth in its division, were Emilie Cummings, Kaitlyn Putnam and Sara Tackett. They were coached by Ann Bauman.
