Friend de Coup wins big over weekend

Mitchell High School’s show choir, Friend de Coup, had a great day at the Sioux Falls Washington “Best of Show” competition Saturday. Friend de Coup was named grand champions, best band, best costumes, best choreography, best vocals, and Alison Day was named best female soloist.

Friend de Coup was named grand champions, best band, best costumes, best choreography, best vocals, and Alison Day was named best female soloist.

The group competed against choirs from South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota.

Choir director Chris Miller said it was a great conclusion to the choir’s competitive season and the best finish of the year.

The Mitchell Show Choir Classic is set for Saturday at the Corn Palace, with doors opening at 8 a.m. Show choirs from across the region will compete, while Friend de Coup will serve as host and provide an exhibition performance in the evening. All-day tickets are $8 for kids 12 and younger and $12 for everyone else.
