Marlin boys win state hockey title

PIERRE - The Mitchell Marlin boys' hockey team defeated Brookings 2-0 Sunday to win the South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association championship.

PIERRE - The Mitchell Marlin boys' hockey team defeated Brookings 2-0 Sunday to win the South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association championship.

Mitchell's Taylor Herrick scored a first-period goal and Spencer Lawrence scored one goal in the third period to lift the second-seeded Marlins past top-seeded Brookings.

Mitchell beat Aberdeen in the first round of the tournament and Pierre in the semifinals to earn a championship game berth.
