SIOUX FALLS (AP) — A Sioux Falls man accused of stabbing to death another man in a motel parking lot has been convicted of second-degree murder and will spend the rest of his life in prison.

A jury Thursday deliberated for three hours before finding 56-year-old Vind Strozier guilty of murder and four counts of aggravated assault in the altercation last August that resulted in the death of 22-year-old Rodney Iron Hawk Jr.

According to media reports, the murder charge carries an automatic penalty of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Prosecutors said Strozier overreacted when he was pushed to the ground during an altercation between his friends and friends of Iron Hawk. The victim's father, Rodney Iron Hawk Sr., says his family is relieved to see justice done.
