Two mayoral candidates file petitions for office

Two of the five declared candidates for mayor of Mitchell have filed their petitions.
Councilman Ken Tracy and Tara Volesky turned in their petitions Tuesday, according to Finance Officer Marilyn Wilson.
Candidates have to obtain at least 50 signatures from registered voters in the city to qualify for the June 5 election.
Former councilman Jerry Toomey, Davison County Commissioner John Claggett and Roger Haley have also picked up petitions to run for the office.
The deadline to file for mayor or the four council seats that are up for election is March 27. So far, there is one declared candidate for each of the races to represent the four wards.
