LETTER: City needs to alert of vehicle removal
What notice was given to residents to remove cars? When was that notice given and how? It seems that with the huge amount of 3.2 inches of snow, some consideration could have been given to the people who pay their taxes and maintain a neat home.By: Rod Hall, Mitchell
To the Editor:
On the evening of Feb. 28, the streets were free of snow where many people parked their cars. During the early morning, a sudden storm dropped a whopping 3.2 inches of snow on Mitchell. About 9 a.m. I noticed a policeman ticketing a car at 1421 S. Miller. A tow truck was there with another offending pickup already loaded. The car was towed.
My question is what notice was given to residents to remove cars? When was that notice given and how? It seems that with the huge amount of 3.2 inches of snow, some consideration could have been given to the people who pay their taxes and maintain a neat home. With that unusual timed snowfall, would a knock on the door or a phone call been too much to expect?
I would warn any person visiting at my home on South Miller in the winter to get up every few hours and see if a snow storm has come. We can do much better. By the way, the snow around that car was not removed until 11 a.m.
