Marquardt leads Hanson to win past Menno in 11B action
Hanson defeated Menno 58-15 in a boys’ District 11B semifinal game Tuesday night at the Corn Palace. Hanson was led in scoring by Jordan Marquardt, who had 13 points. Hanson was led in scoring by Jordan Marquardt, who had 13 points.
Jacob Bartscher and Trey Persson each added 11 points. Hanson shot 20-of-35 from the field (57 percent) and went 12-of-16 from the free-throw line (75 percent).
Hanson had 33 total rebounds and 10 turnovers. Alex Kayser led Hanson in rebounding with nine. Bartscher grabbed five rebounds.
Menno was led in scoring by Ben Fischer, who had 10 points.
Menno shot 5-of-17 from the field (29 percent) and went 2-of-5 from the free-throw line (40 percent).
Hanson improves to 16-5 with the win and plays Ethan on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at the Corn Palace.
Menno ended its season at 8-14.

Ethan 47, Avon 42
Ethan defeated Avon 47-42 Tuesday night in a boys’ District 11B semifinal game at the Corn Palace.
Ethan was led in scoring by Blake Bartscher, who had 23 points. Jace Connor added 12 points. Ethan shot 11-of-26 from the field (42 percent) and went 16-of-22 from the free-throw line (73 percent). Bartscher led the team in rebounding with six rebounds. Kendall Lindemann and Ryan Hanks each grabbed four rebounds. Ethan had 9 total turnovers and 17 rebounds.
Avon was by Luke Van Gerpen, who had a double-double for the game scoring 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. John Wynia added 13 points and Brandon Komich had 10. Avon shot 13-of-23 from the field (57 percent) and went 7-of-10 from the free-throw line (70 percent). Avon had 19 total rebounds. Komich had five rebounds.
Ethan’s next action is on Saturday when it takes on Hanson for the boys’ 11B championship game at the Corn Palace. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
