ETHAN: Band students take part in regional solo, ensemble contest

Seventeen band students participated in the regional solo and ensemble contest in Parkston on Feb. 23.

Seventeen band students participated in the regional solo and ensemble contest in Parkston on Feb. 23.

Students receiving an I rating for an ensemble include: Alexis Neugebauer, Shelly Tilberg, Holly Lindeman, Anna Mueller, Dallas Dunwoody and Tori Pollreisz.

Students receiving a II rating for a solo include Danika Pollreisz and Brittan Flanagan. Students receiving a II rating for an ensemble include: Kendra Klumb, Morgan Tuttle, Maggie Mueller, Bailey Grenoble, Danika Pollreisz, Katie Bicep, Alyssa Hettinger, Haleight Riggs, Aliea Kretschmer-Webster and Darbi Gustafson.

Erin Desmond, band director would like to congratulate all participants.

This week is Dr. Seuss’ Read Across America Week. In honor of Dr. Seuss, the Read Across America Committee has planned many activities for the students and staff.

Every day Pre-K through 12th grade will have a special time to DEAR — Drop Everything And Read.

Another activity will be dress-up days.

Monday is “Cat in the Hat” — wear your favorite hat! Tuesday is “Green Eggs and Ham” — wear something green. Wednesday is “Foot Book” — wear some crazy socks. Thursday is “Oh, the Places You’ll Go” — wear your vacation clothes. Friday is “Relax and Read” — wear something comfy or wear your pajamas.

There will also be a movie party next Friday for everyone.

The following students will be participating in the CBH Academic Festival on Wednesday at DWU: Ryan Hanks, Kendall Lindemann, Chase McBrayer, Cody McBrayer, Kyle Pollreisz, Shelly Tilberg, Zach Martish, Brandon Andersen, Colton Bierle, Whitney Endres, Shelby Fathke, Anthony Huber, Tori Pollreisz, Blake Bartscher, Jace Connor, Travis Huber, Danika Pollreisz, Jordan Grosdidier, Darbi Gustafson, Hanner Tilberg and Morgan Tuttle.

Read Across America Week Tuesday, Feb. 28: District 11B boys’ basketball at the Corn Place; Avon vs. Ethan at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29: CBH Academic Festival at DWU. Saturday, March 3: District 11B boys’ basketball championship at 4:30 p.m. with District 10B at the Corn Palace. Region 6B girls’ basketball tournament at the Corn Palace, TBA.
