RAPID CITY (AP) — Wildlife researchers at Wind Cave National Park are capturing elk this week as part of a study of the animals' movements in and near the park in South Dakota's Black Hills.
The media reports that a helicopter crew is helping the researchers Monday and Tuesday. The crew will fire nets to capture the elk so they can be fitted with radio collars before they're released. The goal is to collar 35 elk.
This is the second year of a three-year study monitoring the elk.
