The Dakota Wesleyan University baseball team fell to Bethany College 6-5 on Sunday. Maximum Shower led the Tigers with two runs. Toby Kaplan, Michael Lukkason and Sam Schumacher each scored one run.

The Dakota Wesleyan University baseball team fell to Bethany College 6-5 on Sunday. Maximum Shower led the Tigers with two runs. Toby Kaplan, Michael Lukkason and Sam Schumacher each scored one run.

On Saturday DWU fell to Sterling College 18-15 in its first game. The second game was called off due to darkness and will not count as a game.

No stats were reported to The Daily Republic for the DWU’s softball team’s game against Bethany College.

SDSU downs IUPUI 75-64

BROOKINGS,(AP) — Jordan Dykstra scored 20 points, including 4 of 5 on 3-pointers, and South Dakota State cruised to a 75-64 win over IUPUI on Saturday night.

South Dakota State (24-7, 15-3 Summit League) endured a difficult first half in which it trailed by as many as 11 and entered halftime scoring five unanswered points to lead 37-35. The Jackrabbits emerged a different team in the second half, outscoring IUPUI (14-17, 7-11) 38-29 en route to a comfortable margin of victory.

Nate Wolters contributed 15 points for the Jackrabbits, who shot 50 percent from the floor, including 47.1 percent from 3-point distance.

South Dakota State finished the season 14-0 at home, its third undefeated season at Frost Arena.

Coyote Men lose to Oakland 84-77

VERMILLION — Senior Charlie Westbrook had 21 points and sophomore Trevor Gruis added a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds, but the South Dakota men’s basketball team fell to Oakland 84-77 in a Summit League game on Saturday night.

The Coyotes ended the season with a 10-18 record overall and 5-13 in their first year in the Summit League. Oakland finished the regular season at 17-14 and 11-7.

“We battled,” South Dakota head coach Dave Boots said according to the USD website. “Our kids played great this last month.”

Coyote women top Oakland 49-38

VERMILLION — The University of South Dakota women’s basketball team defeated Oakland 49-38 in Summit League action on Saturday.

Amber Hegge paced the Coyotes with 14 points and USD held Oakland to 23 percent shooting from the field. Alexis Yackley added nine points and five rebounds and Kelly Stewart had seven points off the bench.

The Coyotes wrap up their Summit League home season today against Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

Jackrabbit women defeat IUPUI 66-52

BROOKINGS — The South Dakota State Unviersity’s women’s basketball team beat IUPUI 66-52 and secured the outright Summit League regular season title on Saturday.

With their win the Jackrabbits improve to 20-8 overall and 15-2 in league play. IUPUI drops to 12-17 overall and 7-10 in the Summit League.

Mitchell native Jill Young scored six of her nine points in the final three minutes. Ashley Sunnarborg led SDSU in scoring with 20 points. The Jackrabbits ended the night 19-of-45 from the field and 23-of-25 from the free-throw line.

SDSU is back in action tonight when it hosts Western Illinois. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
