To the Editor:

Recent reporting in The Daily Republic demonstrates a lot of interest in the Corn Palace plan. In the Feb. 21 edition, you report one councilman urging “the city should first find a new home for City Hall.”

That may be a necessary first step. I recommend another necessary first step: undertake a Corn Palace Advanced Gifts Program. This needs to involve individuals and businesses who will step up to the plate and make gifts between $100,000 and $5 million. Collect $20 million in advance gifts, and the Corn Palace Plan will fly.
