BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Travel conditions are deteriorating in parts of the Dakotas as the states get their second measurable snowfall in a week.
The westbound lanes of Interstate 94 were closed early Thursday between Mandan and Dickinson in southwest North Dakota, and no travel was advised in the eastbound lanes. Highway Patrol Lt. Norman Ruud tells KFGO radio there are numerous vehicles stuck on the interstate.
Travel also was difficult in South Dakota, and some schools closed for the day.
The National Weather Service issued winter weather warnings and advisories early Thursday for parts of the two states. As much as 10 inches of snow had fallen in southwest North Dakota. Some areas in South Dakota were expecting about half a foot of snow by the end of the day.
