HURON — The Steve Miller Band will play at the 2012 South Dakota State Fair.
The classic rock band will perform on Saturday, Sept. 1, as part of the grandstand lineup.
The Steve Miller Band has been performing since the 1960s and hit its commercial peak in the 1970s. In 1973, after years of trying to make it big in the music industry, they recorded the album “The Joker” in just 19 days.
It exceeded all their expectations as it shot right to the top of the music charts.
Steve Miller hits include recognizable songs “The Joker,” “Jet Airliner,” “Take the Money and Run” and “Fly Like An Eagle.”
“The Steve Miller Band is guaranteed to be a great show,” said Jerome Hertel, the manager of the South Dakota State Fair. “A great classic rock show like this is bound to fill up the stands.”
A pre-sale of tickets will begin June 18 for backrest holders, followed by Friends of the Fair ticket sales on June 20. General public ticket sales will begin on June 25. Ticket prices will be announced at the end of February.
The 2012 South Dakota State Fair will run from Thursday, Aug. 30, through Monday, Sept. 3. Channel Seeds Preview night will be Wednesday, Aug. 29.
