MACOMB, ILL. — Senior Amber Hegge scored 23 points in the second half, as the USD women’s basketball team defeated Western Illinois 62-47 in Summit League action on Monday.
The win improves the Coyotes to 19-7 overall and 10-6 in the Summit League. USD has won nine of its last 10 games.
USD finishes its regular season with three home games starting Saturday, when it hosts Oakland in the DakotaDome.
Saturday’s game is part of a women’s/men’s doubleheader that begins at 5 p.m.
Nuggets hold off Twolves in OT
DENVER (AP) — Arron Afflalo hit a tiebreaking floater in the lane with 33.7 seconds remaining in overtime and reserve Al Harrington scored a season-high 31 points as the short-handed Denver Nuggets beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 103-101 Monday night.
Kevin Love had 22 points and 13 rebounds for Minnesota, which snapped its three-game winning streak.
Athletics reach deal with Manny
PHOENIX (AP) — Manny Ramirez and the Oakland Athletics have reached agreement on a minor league contract.
The A’s announced the deal Monday.
Ramirez is expected to report to spring training by the end of the week.
The 12-time All-Star is due to serve a 50-game suspension for his second positive drug test before he can play for the A’s.
Barring rainouts, his first game could be May 30 — his 40th birthday.
Ramirez ranks 14th on the career list with 555 home runs. This would be the 20th major league season for Ramirez, a career .312 hitter with 1,831 RBIs.
