MCM gets two individual champs at 2B

TEA — Dominic Blindert (170) and Cody Eichmann (285) were individual champions for the McCook Central/Montrose wrestling team Saturday at the Region 2B tournament in Tea.

Blindert, who’s 48-1, won by forfeit over Howard’s James Jungwirth in the finals of Saturday’s tournament. Eichmann pinned Beresford’s Ethan Sorensen in the third period for his individual championship.

Tad Reiner (182) was McCook Central/Montrose’s only other wrestler who qualified for the state tournament. He took fourth place.

Tri-Valley had four individual champions and took first place at the region tournament with 167 points. Canton also had four individual champions and took second with 138.5 points.

Howard finished in sixth with 84 points. The Tigers are sending five to the state tournament.

Luke Loudenburg (106) and Jungwirth each took second, Evan Donahue (138) and Donovan Kullnat (152) took third and Bailey Neises (113) took fourth.

Marion/Freeman finished with 45 points, taking ninth place. Marion/Freeman’s Dylan Cotton (145) and Bryce Sayler (195) each took second and Slade Mutchelknaus (182) took third.
