Daugaard plans dairy trip to California
PIERRE (AP) — South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard will promote the state’s dairy industry next week at the World Ag Expo in California.
PIERRE (AP) — South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard will promote the state’s dairy industry next week at the World Ag Expo in California.
Representatives of the state’s Department of Agriculture will join him in the effort.
The governor says officials will push to expand existing dairy operations and open new ones.
Bel Brands has plans to open a $100 million cheese processing plant in Brookings that could employ up to 400 people. The plant will be Chicago-based Bel Brands USA’s third plant in the U.S., and construction is slated to start this summer.
