Wagner wins District 5B title

PLANKINTON — Wagner High School won the District 5B wrestling tournament with 163.5 points Saturday.

Wagner had four individual champions, four runners-up and two third-place finishers. It qualified 10 wrestlers to Saturday’s Region 3B tournament, which will be held in Parkston.

Wagner’s Nick Dion (113), Tyler Dion (126), David Kocer (145) and Alex Kocer (152) each won their weight classes.

Parkston took second at the tournament with 157 points and had three individual champions, Winner was third with 156 points and six champions and Plankinton/Mount Vernon/Corsica was fourth with 90.5 points.

Parkston wrestlers who claimed individual titles were Myles Bialas (132), Brady Reiff (182) and Austin Bertram (220). Winner wrestlers who won titles were Patrick Aeschbacher (106), Sean Bice (120), Tyce Meyer (160), Tate Novotny (170), Taylor Haley (195) and Reed Driscoll (285).

Bon Homme finished fifth with 76 points and had one individual champion and Scotland and Burke/Gregory tied for sixth with 61 points.

Bon Homme’s Austin Kaul (145) was a champion.

Kimball/White Lake gets six champs, wins District 6B

KIMBALL — Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes had six individual champions and won the District 6B wrestling tournament Saturday.

Dylan Konechne (120), Dalton Bely (138), Darren Daum (152), Luke Warejcka (160), Turner Blasius (170) and Hunter Dykes (182) each won their weight classes for KWLPG, which finished the tournament with 195 points.

Miller/Highmore-Harrold took second in the tournament with 190 points. Lyman finished third with 110 points and had three individual champions. Sunshine Bible Academy was fourth with 80 points and Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington was fifth with 71 points.

Individual champions for Lyman were Reed Gray (113), Brady Jandreau (126) and Evan Smith (128).

McCook Central/Montrose gets two champions at District 3B tourney

FLANDREAU — McCook Central/Montrose took fourth place with 103 points at the District 3B wrestling tournament Saturday but had two individual champions.

Dominic Blindert (170) and Cody Eichman (285) each won their weight class. Tri-Valley finished with 202 points and won the tournament championship. Flandreau finished second with 139 points and Howard was third with 135. Howard’s Luke Loudenburg (106) was the team’s only individual champion.

M/F sending eight to Regional tournament

ALCESTER — The Marion/Freeman wrestling team is sending eight wrestlers to the regional tournament on Saturday.

Marion/Freeman took fourth at the District 4B tournament, picking up 86.5 points. Bryce Sayler took first in the 195-pound weight class.

Canton won the tournament with 176 points, Beresford took second with 160 points and Elk Point-Jefferson was third with 142.
