The Mitchell High School one-act theater students received a superior rating for their show “Jack the Ripper” Thursday through Saturday at the South Dakota One-Act Festival in Aberdeen.
In addition to the superior rating, individual students received outstanding acting awards. They included Maggie Smith, Madison Ainsley Miller, Kathleen Serie and Joe Morgan.
“The statement from the one-act festival judges is that I do productions whereby we ‘go big or go home.’ This is true,” said Melissa Vatter-Miller, MHS theater director. “When we go to see live theater, it is larger than life. It is real. It is ‘in our faces.’ This is what I teach my theater students. Go big or go home. Let the stage be your palette, and you are the artist.”
