Martin mother gets 20 years in newborn's death
PIERRE (AP) — A South Dakota woman accused in the death of her newborn son has been sentenced to prison for manslaughter and desertion of a child.
PIERRE (AP) — A South Dakota woman accused in the death of her newborn son has been sentenced to prison for manslaughter and desertion of a child.
Attorney General Marty Jackley says 23-year-old Tera Gilger of Martin was sentenced to serve a total of 20 years in the State Penitentiary.
Gilger was indicted in March 2011 and initially had faced a murder charge. She reached a plea agreement with prosecutors.
