MISSION(AP) — Teachers and students at Todd County High School on Thursday are joining in a national campaign to lower the nationwide school dropout rate.

The 26 Seconds campaign is so named because every 26 seconds, a student drops out of high school in America.

The rally will feature talks from community leaders, alumni and students. The school will also debut a student-produced video addressing the dropout issue.

Teach For America is one 15 national partner organizations supporting the nationwide campaign in partnership with State Farm insurance. In South Dakota, Teach for America recruits and supports recent college graduates and young professionals to commit two years to teach in high-need schools on the Pine Ridge and Rosebud Indian reservations.

The rally begins at 2 p.m. in the school's gym.
