MHS gymnastics team places fourth at Watertown Invitational

The Mitchell High School gymnastics team placed fourth at the Watertown Invitational on Saturday.

The team travels to Madison for the Brookings/Madison/Mitchell Triangular on Thursday for its next meet.

Mitchell finished with a score of 139.025. Head coach Audra Rew said she was proud of the way her team performed on Saturday.

“I was really happy we improved our score since the last several meets the judging has been really hard,” Rew said.

“This time of year the judging is getting tougher and the judges keep picking at little things so it’s tough.”

Rew said the only AA team to place higher than Mitchell was Watertown, and she said she was pleased with her teams’ performance against the tough competition.

“We’re still going to work on floor and beam,” Rew said.

“We took a couple falls this weekend so there are still some points where we can improve.”
