TDA’s Mingo scores 15 in win vs. Plankinton

ARMOUR — Tripp-Delmont/Armour defeated Plankinton 52-35 Friday in girls’ high school basketball action.

TDA was led in scoring by Julie Mingo, who scored 15 points. Hannah Just scored 12 points.

TDA shot 19-of-45 from the field (42 percent) and went 11-of-21 from the free-throw line. TDA had 31 total rebounds.

Kelly Batterman grabbed nine rebounds. TDA had 20 total turnovers.

Plankinton was led in scoring by Katie Anderson, who scored eight points.

Plankinton shot 13-of-60 from the field for 22 percent. Plankinton went 7-of-12 from the free-throw line. Plankinton had 24 total turnovers.

Kadoka Area 73, Stanley County 33

Kadoka Area defeated Stanley County 73-33 Friday night in girls’ high school basketball action. Kadoka Area was led in scoring by Tia Carlson, who scored 24 points.

Stanley County was led in scoring by Tory Deal, who scored 11 points.

Wagner 71, Avon 32

WAGNER — Wagner defeated Avon Friday night on their home court 71-32.

Devon Brecke led the charge for the Red Raiders finishing with 23 points. Chesney Nagel was Avon’s leading scorer with 14 points.

Gregory 33, South Central 31

COLOME — Gregory downed South Central 33-31 in a tightly contested Southern Plains Tournament game.

Shelby Rajewich recorded 9 points to lead Gregory while South Central’s Ashely Green scored a game high 11.

Freeman 54, Menno 32

MENNO — The Freeman girls basketball team improved to 9-3 after a 54-32 road win over Menno (5-9).

Paige Herrboldt was the leading scorer for Freeman with 11 points. She also led Freeman with six rebounds and 5 assists. Kaitlyn Stern had the team-high in steals with seven.

Freeman had 25 team rebounds and 18 steals. The team was 3-of-7 from the line.

Menno was 13-of-41 from the field and finished the night with 38 team rebounds, 10 assists and five steals. The team was 4-of-8 from the line and finished the game with 25 turnovers.

Kylee Kessler led Menno in scoring with 12 point, in rebounds with 16 and in steals with 2. Ashton Diede and Erika Hauck led Menno in assists with three each.

Freeman is 9-3 and will play next at St. Francis on Saturday. Menno is 5-9 and will play next on Jan. 28 at the Cornbelt Classic.

Ethan 33, Corsica/Stickney 32

ETHAN — Bailey Grenoble dribbled the length of the court and hit a three-point shot to give Ethan a 33-32 overtime victory over Corsica/Stickney in a girl’s basketball game on Friday in Ethan.

Ethan shot 13-of-39 from the field and was 2-of-10 from the free-throw line. Ethan finished Friday’s game with 37 rebounds and 20 turnovers.

Morgan Tuttel led Ethan in scoring with 8 points. Darbi Gustafson and Shelly Tilberg each had 7 points. Morgan Tuttel and Whitney Endres each had 9 rebounds to lead their team.

Corsica/Stickney shot 12-of-42 from the field and 6-of-15 from the free-throw line. Corsica/Stickney had 18 rebounds and 12 turnovers in Friday’s game.

Ethan is 9-3 and will play next against Freeman Academy in Freeman Jan. 24. Corsica/Stickney is 7-6 and will play next at Dakota Christian on Jan. 24.

Flandreau 50, McCook Central/Montrose 40

FLANDREAU — The Flandreau girls’ basketball team improved to 4-7 with a 50-40 win over McCook Central/Montrose Friday night in Flandreau.

Flandreau shot 13-of-36 from the field, 19-of-28 from the line and finished the game with 26 team rebounds. Flandreau was led in scoring by Brooke Relf with 16 points. Kelly Johanson had 13 points and Makayla Dietrich had 10 points.

McCook Central/Montrose shot 15-of-52 from the field, 11-of-21 from the line and had 33 team rebounds. The team was led in scoring by Sierra Miles with 11 points.

Flandreau is 4-7 and will play their next game against Parker at home on Jan. 23. McCook Central/Montrose is 4-7 and will play next against Freeman in Freeman on Jan. 23.

COLOME — Colome defeated Lyman 50-41 in a Southern Plains Tournament game Friday night.

Colome’s Tracy Routh led all scorers with 22 while Bailey Almond racked up a team-high 10 points for Lyman.

Tripp-Delmont/Armour 51, Plankinton 27

ARMOUR — Tripp-Delmont/Armour improved to 9-2 with a 51-27 win over Plankinton in boy’s basketball action on Friday night in Armour.

Adam Fink led Tripp-Delmont/Armour in scoring with 15 points. He also led the team with 6 assists and shared the team-high for rebounds with Trevor Payer, with 6 rebounds each.

Tripp-Delmont/Armour shot 21-of-40 from the field and 6-of-16 from the line. The team finished Friday’s game with 30 rebounds and 20 turnovers.

Plankinton shot 10-of-30 from the field and 5-of-8 from the line. Kellam Karst was Plankinton’s leading scorer with 9 points.

Plankinton finished with 12 rebounds and 25 turnovers.

Tripp-Delmont/Armour is 9-2 and will play Castlewood at the Corn Palace on Saturday. Plankinton is 1-12 and will play next at home against Colome on Jan. 24.

SALEM — Shayne Gotllob’s 29 points and 22 rebounds led McCook Central/Montrose to a win over Flandreau Friday in a boy’s basketball game.

McCook Central/Montrose shot 39-of-79 from the field and 3-of-7 from the free throw line. The team finished the night with 51 rebounds and 20 turnovers.

Mitchel Foster led Flandreau in scoring with 12 points, in assists with four and in steals with three. Geno Burshiem had the team-high in rebounds with 4.

Flandreau shot 14-of-53 from the field and 11-of-14 from the line. The team had 15 total rebounds and 15 turnovers.

McCook Central/Montrose is 8-3 and will play against Madison on Saturday at the Corn Palace. Flandreau is 9-2 and will play against Parker on Saturday in Flandreau.
