Brown County wants change in water development lines

ABERDEEN (AP) — Brown County commissioners want state lawmakers to establish a new water development district for part of northeastern South Dakota.

ABERDEEN (AP) — Brown County commissioners want state lawmakers to establish a new water development district for part of northeastern South Dakota.

The county is now part of the James River Water Development District. Commission chairman Duane Sutton says the county would like to join Marshall and Spink counties in a new district.

Sutton tells the media that the new boundaries would allow uninterrupted taxing authority and work on needed drainage projects.
