The Mitchell City Council will meet on Tuesday this week due to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday today. Almost all city, county, state and federal offices and schools are closed today in honor of the civil rights leader.
The City Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in City Hall Council Chambers. A Public Works Committee meeting will be held at 7:10 p.m.
Although there is no council meeting, there will be a public event tonight.
The Tourism/Corn Palace Area Development Committee of the Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a meeting at 5:30 p.m. Representatives from Meyer Scherer & Rockcastle, the Minneapolis firm that was hired to study the Corn Palace and see how it can be improved, will give a presentation. The city noted that a quorum of the council will likely be present at the meeting but no action will be taken.
The meeting is open to the public and free popcorn will be served.
