LETTER: Advertise local jobs across the nation

To the Editor:

I have been following Our View on the shortages of workers in South Dakota, and it occurred to me that there might be a way to get some imported workforce.

My suggestion is to advertise in the Detroit and other hard-hit areas where unemployment is high. You need the state and the companies to come together with a fund that they can use in their advertising that will help or fully fund the moving costs of anyone that signs up to move to the Mitchell area and takes a job with one of the participating companies. You also might include the help of finding a place to live. I heard of a similar state that has used this to their advantage.
