The nearly half ton of marijuana was confiscated during a speeding stop east of Rapid City on Friday. Authorities say a trooper's drug dog detected the bales of pot in the back of a pickup being driven by a Massachusetts man.
The media reports that the drugs had an estimated street value of $3.9 million.
Forty-year-old Donald McCormick of Ipswich, Mass., faces felony drug charges. His bond was set at $1 million cash. It was not immediately known if he had obtained an attorney.
