ABERDEEN (AP) — Brown County Commissioner Burt Elliott says he won't seek re-election in 2012.
Elliott is a Democrat from Aberdeen. His term expires at the end of next year. His wife, Rep. Elaine Elliott, D-Aberdeen, won't seek re-election to the state House next year because of medical concerns.
Burt Elliott served as a member of the state House of Representatives before being elected to the county commission four years ago.
The media reports that Elliott told his fellow commissioners about his decision not to seek re-election this week. He said he announced his decision so others interested in running for the post would have time to organize campaign plans.
