Box Elder man accused of head-butting officer

RAPID CITY (AP) — A Box Elder man accused of head-butting an officer in an attempt to avoid arrest faces two felony and multiple misdemeanor charges.

The media reports that Daniel Garr, 25, drove away from officers who pulled him over on St. Patrick Street on Tuesday. Soon after, police got calls about a car driving fast and recklessly.

Police found Garr's abandoned car on East North Street, where it had crossed traffic before coming to a stop against a curb. Witnesses told officers that a man fleeing the car flagged down a passing motorist and jumped in that car.

Garr was later found in a thrift store parking lot.

The newspaper reports that Garr tried to run from police. The alleged head-butt came as an officer tried to handcuff him.
