WATERTOWN (AP) — Two people who had been ice fishing were rescued from Goose Lake in southern Codington County after their all-terrain vehicle plunged into open water Monday night.
Watertown Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Tyler McElhany tells the media that a husband and wife from Watertown were returning to shore after ice fishing when their four-wheeler went into the icy water. He says after the couple began screaming for help, another angler heard them, threw them a rope and pulled them out.
McElhany says the couple was cold and wet, but otherwise all right.
McElhany says the incident is a reminder of how ice conditions can vary due to the recent warm weather.
