YANKTON (AP) — Yankton's downtown post office is closing in January.
The media reports that the location's operations will move to the Fox Run Annex on West 25th Street.
Yankton postmaster Michael Hampton sent a letter to post office box customers this past week informing them of the change. The consolidation will occur on Monday, Jan. 23.
The U.S. Postal Service estimates a savings of nearly $1.1 million over a 10-year period on staffing, utilities, maintenance and transportation.
Spokesman Peter Nowacki says that to his knowledge, the postal service is not currently working with a potential buyer.
