Mitchell man claims $140,000 lottery prize
Richard Amdahl cashes ticket, declines publicity
The second of two local residents to win a lottery drawing on Nov. 30 finally claimed his $140,000 jackpot Thursday morning.
Richard Amdahl claimed his prize at the South Dakota Lottery office in Sioux Falls after purchasing the winning Wild Card 2 lottery ticket last month from Coborn’s in Mitchell.
Coborn’s will receive a bonus of 1 percent, or $1,400, for being the store to sell the winning ticket.
Kelly Thompson, a South Dakota Lottery spokeswoman, said Amdahl did not offer any explanation for why he waited nearly a month to claim his prize.
Amdahl declined to be featured in Lottery advertising or public relations, and he declined to be contacted by the media.
Terry Kleinsasser won the other big prize from the Nov. 30 drawing, a $49,000 Dakota Cash jackpot.
