School of Mines hires Collins as football coach
RAPID CITY (AP) — The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology has hired Portland State assistant head coach and special teams coordinator Stacy Collins as its head football coach.
RAPID CITY (AP) — The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology has hired Portland State assistant head coach and special teams coordinator Stacy Collins as its head football coach.
President Robert Wharton made the announcement during a news conference on Tuesday afternoon.
The school says Collins was selected after a search that included more than 80 applicants narrowed down to four finalists.
Collins has more than 14 years coaching experience, including a stop at the School of Mines. He served as the Hardrockers' defensive coordinator and special teams coach in 2002.
He also coached at Southern Oregon, Idaho State and Western Washington, and played and coached at Western Oregon.
