Weber’s 27 points lead Parkston past Avon

It was Parkston’s first win of the season.

Spencer Lucas scored 19 points and hauled in five rebounds for the Trojans, who shot 44 percent from the field and 90 percent from the free-throw line.

Zach Scott had four assists and Kyle Hohn had three seals for Parkston, which trailed 46-39 at halftime.

Avon’s Luke VanGerpen had a game-high 29 points and added nine rebounds. Johnny Wynia had 11 points and six rebounds.

The Pirates hit 48 percent of their field goals and 50 percent from the free-throw line.

Parkston, which won the JV game, hosts the Parkston Classic next on Dec. 30. Avon (0-3) plays Beresford on Tuesday in Centerville.

TRIPP — Adam Fink and Trevor Payer combined to score 29 points in Tripp-Delmont/Armour’s 51-32 win over Andes Central Tuesday night.

The Nighthawks’ Fink had a game-high 16 points and Payer had 13 rebounds and 13 points. TDA shot 42 percent from the field and hit 2 of its 7 free throws.

Connor Florey had 11 points and eight rebounds for the Eagles, who shot 31 percent from the field and hit 3 of their 7 free throws.

TDA (4-0) hosts Viborg/Hurley in Tripp on Jan. 2, while Andes Central (1-3) travels to Menno on Dec. 29.

HIGHMORE — Kimball/White Lake jumped out to a 17-3 first-quarter lead and cruised to a 67-45 win over Highmore-Harrold Tuesday night.

KWL was led by Jacob Kirsch and Trevor Reinesch, who each scored 13 points. Jesse Taylor scored 12.

Eathen Gaulke had a team-high eight rebounds for KWL, which is 2-2 and plays next in the Holiday Classic on Dec. 28.

Highmore-Harrold was led by Josiah Fawcett and Benson Kleinschmidt, who each had 14 points. Kleinschmidt also had 11 rebounds for H-H, which is 0-3.

MARION — The Hanson boys’ basketball team defeated Marion 58-21 for its third win of the year.

Dakota Christian was led in scoring by Michael Buitenbos, who scored 13 points. ake Spoulstra had 11 points. DC had 23 rebounds for the game, with Spoulstra grabbing seven. Dakota Christian went 16-of-51 from the field (31 percent), scored 6-of-17 3-point attempts and went 5-of-14 from the free-throw line. DC had 13 total turnovers. Buitenbos also had seven assists.

Bon Homme was led in scoring by Alec Weber, who had eight points. Bon Homme had 23 rebounds, led by Les Jelsma’s seven. Bon Homme went 13-of-38 from the field and made 6 of 17 3-point attempts and went 5-of-13 from the free throw line. Bon Homme also had 13 total turnovers.

CHAMBERLAIN— Winner defeated Chamberlain 70-57 Tuesday night.

Chamberlain was led in scoring by Colton Anderson, who had 16 points, Tyler Langdeau, who scored 12 points, and Skylar Bertram, who had 10 points. Chamberlain had 26 total rebounds and Anderson picked up seven of those.

Chamberlain was 25-of-54 from the field and shot 3-of-6 from the free-throw line. Chamberlain had 21 total turnovers.

Winner was led in scoring by Ben Connot, who had 14 points, Kyle Mathis and Nathan Nassz both had 13 points. Winner had 37 total rebounds with Mathis grabbing 11. Winner shot 25-of-55 from the field and went 16-of-25 from the free-throw line. The Warriors had 20 turnovers.

Ethan was led in scoring by Kendall Lindeman, who scored 13 points, Anthony Huber, who had eight points, and Blake Bartscher, who had seven points. It had 16 total rebounds with Huber grabbing four. Arlington was led in scoring by Tage Hargens, who had 21 points, Lane Weber, who scored 14 points and Andrew King, who came off the bench and scored 14 points in the second half. Arlington had 19 total rebounds and 12 total turnovers.

Howard was led in scoring by Steve Larsen, who scored 25 points, Cal Wiese, who had 17 points and Landon Laible, who scored 12 points for the night. Howard had 21 total rebounds with Andrew Schwader grabbing eight. Schwader and Wiese also had five assists each. The Tigers went 22-of-40 from the field and 8-of-12 from the free-throw line. PLATTE — Kelly Knudson’s triple-double lead Platte-Geddes past Mount Vernon 69-37 Tuesday in a girls’ high school basketball game.

Knudson finished with 14 points, 11 steals, 12 assists and five rebounds for the Black Panthers, who led 45-15 at halftime.

Josie DeGroot had 12 rebounds and Rochelle Wynia had eight points and six rebounds. Platte-Geddes shot 30 percent from the field and hit 23 percent of its free throws.

Mount Vernon’s Erin Denning finished with 12 points and Ashlee Dikoff had 10 points.

P-G (2-3) plays at Lennox on Jan. 5, while Mount Vernon (0-5) travels to Andes Central on Dec. 29.

FREEMAN — Freeman’s Dina Soulek had 22 points and eight rebounds and Paige Herrboldt had 16 points in a 63-60 loss to Centerville Tuesday.

Freeman led 16-8 after one quarter and got 10 points from Carly Uecker.

Centerville’s Kieran O’Malley had a team-high 18 points.

Freeman shot 39 percent from the field and hit 10 of its 13 free throws. Centerville shot 40 percent from the field and won the rebounding battle 40-26.

Freeman (3-2) hosts Bridgewater-Emery on Jan. 5, while Centerville (4-1) plays at the Parkston Classic on Dec. 29.

HURLEY — Corsica/Stickney’s Emily VanRoekel had a team-high 11 points and Cassie Bamberg added nine rebounds in a 45-29 loss to Viborg/Hurley Tuesday.

Corsica/Stickney hit 11 of its 53 field goals and was 4-of-7 from the free-throw line.

Viborg/Hurley was led by Keely Knudsen’s game-high 19 points. The Cougars hit 45 percent from the field and were 33 percent from the free-throw line.

MARION — Ashley Robinson had 20 points and nine rebounds to help Hanson beat Marion 68-28 Tuesday night.

Hanson’s Cassidy Graham had 17 points and five steals and Kendra Cheeseman had 10 points and seven assists.

Arlington was led in scoring by Katelyn Judstra, who scored 22 points. Arlington had 37 rebounds as a team with Lanny Gross grabbing eight. Arlington had 23 total turnovers. The team shot 14-of-45 from the field.

Jenna Clark of Howard had a double-double for the game, scoring 15 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Howard had 45 rebounds as a team. The Tigers had 14 turnovers and shot 16-of-55 from the field.

Darbi Gustfason led Ethan in scoring for Ethan, knocking down 22 points.

Shelly Tilberg and Morgan Tuttle each had 11 points for the night. Ethan shot 20-of-51 from the field (39 percent) and went 10-of-22 from the free-throw line. Tuttle had seven rebounds for the game. Ethan had nine total turnovers. Whitney Enders had eight assists.

Leading scorers for James Valley Christian were Tara Nihart and Sarah Wedel, who both scored 12 points, and Jaclyn and Hannah Loban, who each had 10 points. Wedel also led in rebounding with seven.

James Valley Christian shot 15-of-44 from the field and went 5-of-11 from the free-throw line. They had 12 total turnovers.

Chamberlain was led in scoring by Jaymee Knippling and Corrina Reuer, who each scored 10 points. Chamberlain had 32 total rebounds for the night with Logan Pickner grabbing eight. The Cubs went 19-of-59 from the field and 7-of-10 from the free-throw line. Chamberlain had 17 total rebounds.

Chamberlain (3-1) travels to Scotland for their next game on Dec. 27.

Winner (2-3) hosts St. Thomas More on Dec. 27.
