Police seeking suspect in attempted burglary case

The Mitchell Police Division is looking for a suspect who attempted to burglarize an outbuilding of Mitchell Plumbing and Heating Sunday.

The Mitchell Police Division is looking for a suspect who attempted to burglarize an outbuilding of Mitchell Plumbing and Heating Sunday.

Sgt. Dave Beintema said a man was captured on a surveillance photos breaking into a storage shed between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

The police report says a latch was forced off the door, but nothing was taken from the building.

The business kept valuable items in the building and Beintema said it’s a reminder for all businesses to keep buildings locked securely.

Attempted burglary is a class 4 felony, carrying a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, a $20,000 fine or both.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Mitchell Police Division at 995-8400 or Mitchell Area Crime Stoppers at 996-1700.

Calls remain anonymous and a cash reward is available if it leads to the arrest of the subject or subjects involved. There are no caller IDs attached to this phone line.

To send a crime tip via text message, text MITCS plus a message to 274637. Upon receipt of a tipster’s first incoming message the system will auto reply with a confirmation containing the tipster’s unique tip ID. Anonymous two-way communication can then occur between the tipster and investigators.
