MOUNT VERNON: One-act play cast selected

The following high school students have been chosen for the one-act play cast: Jacob Sonne, Shay Johnson, Sierra Hardie, Haley Hinker, Kody Weiss, Phil Millar, Alexa Bertna, Ashlee Dikoff, Cameron Deinert, Hanna Parson, Alaina Bertsch, Dean Frey, Jordyn Martin, Kelsey Hanson, Megan Wieczorek and Deric Denning.

Selected as stagehands are Cody Pholen, Jared Long, Bobby Beach-Pattison and Cody Renken. The “B” schools will be performing comedy this year. Mrs. Klingaman is the director.

* Congratulations to Deric Denning, who received a superior rating at the State Oral Interp Contest held Dec. 2-3 in Pierre.

Activities for the week of Dec. 12-19 include:

Today, Dec. 12: The Mustangs basketball team will host Mitchell Christian.

Tuesday, Dec. 13: The K-6 Christmas concert will be held beginning at 7 p.m.

The baseball association will be meeting in the pre-school room after the Christmas concert.

They will be deciding on the various positions. Please attend so that you can share your input as parents.

Thanks to all for your dedication to the baseball program in the past. With your help, we plan to have another spectacular year of baseball/softball for the Mount Vernon youth.

Thursday, Dec. 15: The Mustangs will travel to Ethan.

The Mount Vernon Stampede Youth Wrestling Club will have organizational meetings and practices on Dec. 14, 22, and 29. These will begin at 6:30 p.m. and end at 7:30 p.m. in the downtown gym in Mount Vernon. Friday, Dec. 16: A SESD day is scheduled with no regular classes for students.

Saturday, Dec. 17: There will be a basketball doubleheader in Woonsocket beginning at noon. The wrestlers will be participating in the Warrior Invitational held in Plankinton on Saturday also.

Another reminder that St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Mount Vernon will be hosting a soup supper on Jan. 15 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at St. Michael’s Parish Hall. All are welcome.
