LEAD (AP) — The Terry Peak Ski Resort in Lead opened Saturday despite a warm late fall that has slowed the pace of snow-making. General Manager Tom Marsing said the resort usually makes about 50 million gallons of water into snow by this time of the year. So far, it’s at about 10 million to 12 million. Once the snow is created, it’s groomed into the slopes using a machine called a Snow Cat. Terry Peak has five of them. Marsing says the resort will continue to make snow and has had a good two weeks of really cold temperatures. But he says natural snow is the big key. Terry Peak will be open every day from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. starting on Dec. 10.
