DEADWOOD (AP) — Officials at two Deadwood museums are discussing the possibility of partnering in an effort to consolidate resources.

The Black Hills Pioneer reports that a task force made up of representatives from the Days of '76 Museum and the Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center met recently to explore joining forces.

Deadwood Historic Preservation Officer Kevin Kuchenbecker is leading the effort.

He says the task force discussed staffing, exhibits and marketing, among other things.

Kuchenbecker says the boards of the two museums are not looking to merge but instead looking at ways to become more efficient.

He says the discussion is still in the early stages, and the boards of each museum would still need to approve any partnership.
