ABERDEEN (AP) — Farmers in nine South Dakota and North Dakota counties are eligible for natural disaster assistance.
The federal Agriculture Department has designated northeast South Dakota's Brown County as a primary natural disaster area due to storms and flooding between mid-March and late September. Farmers also are eligible in the contiguous South Dakota counties of Day, Edmunds, Faulk, McPherson, Marshall and Spink, and in the neighboring North Dakota counties of Dickey and Sargent.
Farmers in those counties are eligible for low-interest emergency loans from the federal government, as well as help through other programs.
