The Family Christian Center on East 15th Street in Mitchell is once again hosting its free Thanksgiving dinner for anyone in the Mitchell area Thursday from noon to 2 p.m.
The meal will feature fresh turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, pumpkin pie and more.
“It’s going to be the whole nine yards, so people better bring their appetite,” said Kathy Gouin, organizer for the event.
During the meal last year, the church served about 300 people.
Gouin said the meal is a great way for people to have Thanksgiving when they otherwise couldn’t.
“Being able to open up the doors of the church and help people is really the best thing to see,” she said.
“We have such a close-knit community here in Mitchell, we just want to get the word out that you don’t have to be alone on this holiday.”
All of the food is donated by businesses and members of the community, according to Gouin, and all of the cooking and serving will be done by volunteers.
“We still need volunteers, and could use all the help we can get” she said.
Gouin asks anyone interested in volunteering by either preparing or serving the meal to call her at 605-630-2004.
