BROOKINGS (AP) — South Dakota State University's jazz ensemble has been invited to perform in Switzerland next July.
Assistant professor of woodwinds and jazz Nathan Jorgensen says the Montreux Jazz Festival is one of the most prestigious in all of Europe.
Jorgensen says the two-week festival is in a gorgeous part of the world and features numerous stages and internationally recognized performers.
Sixteen students from SDSU's Jazz Ensemble I will make the trip.
The school's jazz ensembles I and II will perform their fall concerts at the SDSU Performing Arts Center on Monday. The ensembles are typically free, but a $5 fee is being charged this time to offset the Switzerland trip costs.
