Dell Rapids rolls over West Central for 11A championship

VERMILLION (AP) — Channing Barber ran for 227 yards, scored four touchdowns and threw a TD pass as Dell Rapids beat West Central 35-0 Thursday in the South Dakota Class 11A football title game.

Barber scored on runs of 59, 46, and 27 yards and picked up a Dell Rapids fumble and ran 24 yards for a score.

The Quarriers (11-1) ran for 326 of their 336 total yards to successfully defend their state title.

West Central’s only real threat came in the second quarter when Josh Auble blocked a field goal and returned it 77 yards to the 5-yard line. But the Trojans (10-2) didn’t get into the end zone.

West Central had 206 total yards. Connor Miles had 53 yards, Devon Blaine 52 and Dalton Kuehl 50.
