Burke School District and Platte-Geddes School District are among 10 organizations to share in $200,000 in National Science Foundation funding.
The schools received funds from the Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) to expand, enhance and develop new opportunities in secondary career and technical education in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
The projects range from dual-credit opportunities in the information technology and robotics fields to cutting edge courses in pre-engineering and biosciences.
Funding for the EPSCoR grants is provided through the National Science Foundation and the funds are administrated by the State Department of Education.
The amount received by each school was not announced.
The Department of Education received 19 funding applications.
