Leo Disburg appointed judge in SD Sixth Judicial District
PIERRE (AP) — The South Dakota Supreme Court has approved the appointment of attorney Leo Disburg as a magistrate judge in the Sixth Judicial Circuit.
PIERRE (AP) — The South Dakota Supreme Court has approved the appointment of attorney Leo Disburg as a magistrate judge in the Sixth Judicial Circuit.
Presiding Judge John Brown says in a statement that Disburg's appointment takes effect Nov. 9. According to media reports that Disburg succeeds Magistrate Judge Mark Smith, who retired last spring but has continued to hear cases.
Disburg is a graduate of the University of South Dakota and the University of Minnesota law school. He has been an attorney in Brookings and most recently in Pierre, and has been the chief hearing examiner for the Office of Hearing Examiners since 1998.
The Sixth Judicial Circuit covers 14 counties in central and south central South Dakota.
