RAPID CITY (AP) — A man who was shot four times during a basketball tournament in Rapid City two years ago is headed to prison after his third probation violation on a conviction for raping a teenage girl.
Shane Bordeaux,23, was sentenced to four years behind bars after telling Judge Jeff Davis on Monday that he was "ready to take responsibility and get this over with." He will get credit for time served and will end up serving about one year and two months in the penitentiary.
Authorities say Bordeaux raped the girl a few months before he was injured in December 2009 in a shooting outside the Lakota Nation Invitational basketball tournament. The shooter was sentenced to 50 years in prison, and another man got a lighter sentence for being an accessory.
