Lake Andes judge appointed to the SD Judicial Qualifications Commission
PIERRE (AP) — Circuit Judge Bruce Anderson of Lake Andes has been elected to the South Dakota Judicial Qualifications Commission.
PIERRE (AP) — Circuit Judge Bruce Anderson of Lake Andes has been elected to the South Dakota Judicial Qualifications Commission.
The commission has authority to investigate complaints against judges, investigate applicants for judicial vacancies and make recommendations to the governor regarding the appointment of new judges.
Anderson was elected to the commission at an annual meeting of the state’s judges, magistrates and Supreme Court justices. He fills a vacancy created when former Circuit Judge Lori Wilbur of Pierre was appointed to the Supreme Court.
The Judicial Qualifications Commission includes two circuit judges selected by the judicial system, three members appointed by the president of the State Bar and two people appointed by the governor.
Anderson was a magistrate judge from 1995 until 2006.
