ABERDEEN (AP) — South Dakota Fire Marshal Al Christie says the investigation into an explosion near Britton that killed two volunteer firefighters and injured a third will take at least a couple more weeks.

Christie said investigators want to make sure they have everything they need to determine the cause of the blast.

Authorities say 22-year-old William Waldner and 20-year-old Jacob Waldner died while extinguishing a coal bin fire at the Sunset Hutterite colony. Jacob Waldner’s father, Jack, was injured.

The firefighters were on top of a building on Sept. 15 when the explosion blew off the roof and a wall.
