To the Editor:

On Oct. 22, Palace City Lions Club will mark its 35th anniversary as a service organization. This club is just one of 46,000 clubs (1.35 million members) found in 206 countries and geographic areas around the world. Lions clubs are dedicated to filling needs and services within their communities and worldwide.

Palace City Lions has been active in supporting Mitchell and the Mitchell area by sponsoring a “Make a Wish,” creating Lions Point picnic area and handicapped accessible fishing pier at Lake Mitchell, and building a gazebo at the soccer complex.

To commemorate our 35th anniversary of providing service to the Mitchell area and surrounding communities, Palace City Lions is taking requests/nominations to finance or complete a service for an individual or group.

You may have a neighbor in need of home repairs or winterizing. Possibly, you know someone who could use transportation for medical services or special assistance items in their home. Maybe you are in need of classroom supplies or have a particular service project you need assistance in financing. Let us help you and surprise someone who would not otherwise benefit from assistance.

If you, your neighbor or group are in need of assistance, your request may be mailed to: “We Serve,” 41505 246th St., Fulton, S.D. 57340. Please include your telephone number. Requests will be accepted through Sept. 30.

All requests will be reviewed by the club and grants will be awarded based on needs and available funds during the regular club meeting on Oct. 6. Winning projects will be notified by Oct. 20.

We want to touch as many people as possible this year.

Cindy Easton is vice president of the Palace City Lions.
