Coyotes hope to build on another second week upset

SIOUX FALLS (AP) — After another second week surprise on the football field, the University of South Dakota Coyotes are hoping this time to keep the momentum going.

SIOUX FALLS (AP) — After another second week surprise on the football field, the University of South Dakota Coyotes are hoping this time to keep the momentum going.

The Coyotes downed defending FCS champion and No. 1-rated Eastern Washington 30-17 Saturday at the DakotaDome in Vermillion.

It marked the second straight upset for the Coyotes on week two. Last year they knocked off Minnesota, and hoped it would lead to a strong season. USD finished 4-7.

Coyotes senior receiver Jeremy Blount tells the media that the team became too satisfied after last year's win over the Gophers. Blount says the Coyotes have to keep practicing and playing hard.

Senior guard Brent Johnson says the win over Eastern Washington shows that USD has "faith inside that locker room."
